I am currently taking new clients.  All calls received between 8AM Mon and 6PM Friday will be returned within 24 hours.  My return call may come up on your screen as 'restricted' or 'undisclosed.'   Why? Please see below WHEN YOU LEAVE A MESSEGE .

As a therapist, my goal is to help you better manage what is concerning you, and to help you lead a life that is more personally satisfying. While we cannot change difficult situations of the past or the behavior of other persons, we can work together to better understand and manage/resolve challenges in your life. Part of our work involves discussing long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

If you are looking for support and guidance through a challenging/difficult situation, or you think you are ready to move in a new direction in your life, I will work with you to achieve your goals.

Some people are curious about how therapy helps.  It works through regular/routine meetings with a therapist.  My career as a therapist, beginning with my professional education and training (completed in 1986), has been and remains focused on that issue (of how therapy can be useful) for each individual, as it pertains to them personally.  Working with one's own psyche or one's psychological functioning is the work of therapy; for me this is the profoundly serious matter involved in providing psychological care.

It may interest you to know psychotherapy or talk therapy has been scientifically researched/studied by independent professionals since the 1940's. It has been found to be an effective treatment for the majority of clients/patients.

The particular therapist who may best help us with our concerns is one we feel we can work with.  That is a personal judgement, reserved for the client, and it must be respected.   I believe therapists must be trained professionals who follow strict ethical guidelines in managing their client relationships.

Over the decades I have worked with persons all age groups, as well as families.   I am now working only with individual adults or couples. The problems I help them address include the presence/impact of depression, anxiety, trauma, circumstance (such as difficult work environments), identity issues, mood regulation, relationship, career, and health status concerns.

If you are needing/considering therapy for yourself, and wish to speak with me, please call 412-682-5655, if I am unable to come to the phone I will return your call within 24 hours.  I do speak and ask others to speak slowly/deliberately on the phone as the accoustical quality of our commuication devices may be less than optimal!

Please note!  WHEN YOU LEAVE A MESSEGE, the return call you get may not show up on your screen as 412-682-5655!  It can show up as a 'restricted number.'  This is so because I may have to return your call from a personal phone which is sometimes answered by another person, and I am obligated to protect any potential client's privacy.   I will ask for the times you are likely to pick up a call and I will call within that first window of time I have open!
